You took it for granted that the planet would still be here When you woke up in the mornin But that's not the way we planned it Now we're movin on You took it for granted that the sun would still be shinin When you opened yer eyes But that's not the way it happened You took it for granted that day would turn into night and turn back into day and back into night That's just how it has been But now the pattern's gone You took it for granted that your love would still be there when you came back around But it's not that even handed It's gone

Absence of appetite Waking up in the night Replayin past events Tryin to shift the tense After you've gone you just can't walk back through that door Some mistakes you just keep payin for Last night I ran into you agin Iridescent with happiness Tried to pretend I'm fine But I couldn't meet your eyeline It was my choice to leave, you remember that I'm sure But I had no concept of the future then, and now I know the score Tryin to change the past is a herculean chore Some mistakes you just keep payin for If time's the cause, how can it be the cure? I thought I knew I didn't love you anymore Ah, some mistakes you just keep payin for

Help me, please help me, my mind is runnin Down from every orifice in my head, I can't get it back in Yeah I'm worried I'm wishin, I'm all blind ambition I'm runnin a brutal smear campaign against the opposition I bet they thought we were friends I don't need any friends when I got constituents Yeah help us please help us, our lives are useless We're runnin for government positions, We hope we can count on your vote Please believe our dull patter, we're tryna climb the ladder and if we get the swing state votes we'll know for sure we matter in this life And then we'll start again, we'll be runnin again we'll be running again with all our constituents It would really help me out if you believed in what I stand for I don't really know myself But I know I wanna win in the end Yeah I'll win in the end Gonna win

Relearn 04:04
It's been a long time since you been crawlin Around on the soft-needled forest floor, spongin' it all in The world was a sweet blur of speechless sensation And everything that wasn't written in your DNA Was still a-waitin' round the corner to change your brain You've come a long way in this cold city You've been workin on a personality, ironic and witty You got your heart broke and didn't bother to fix it Now you been stuck inside an amber of anxiety Convinced yourself that it's the way you've felt forever You gotta relearn how to make friends Cause you've forgotten all the things you once knew then You gotta relearn how to feel love Cause you forgotten everything you thought you knew back then It ain't as easy as you thought it was is it cuz? Relearn

Serves you right, we locked you in a zoo All your daughters are what's left of you We've been hearing bout the things you do When you think that no-one's looking Serves you right, we left you bark and twigs Gnawing on your conscience, no more cigs All your knowledge left you unaware It's old news the way we found you bare naked raping, slaving, taking Serves you right, we're sellin tickets too We'd forgive if you'd admit it's true You've been hiding behind self-made truths Justifying all your actions through history

Ways 04:15
These days and times hold up a precarious line And a nation's crimes don't belong to its tired or it's kneeling And what people know just digs up a real fine hole D-d-don't be like "woah" when you're on the edge reelin' You could say the time's nigh, ease up off the party line I hate to be like "rise and shine" but this alarm's been driving me crazy H-h-h-h holy cow, you'd think from the way they shout Th-that they must be the cat's meow But it's the mouse they're not seeing They're not seeing it

Fruit Flies 04:23
My house is overrun by fruitflies And I'm so tired of disguising The way I feel about your departure from my life So I'm trying everything I know to pacify I'm fine, I'm just wasted half the time Fruit flies, buzzin through my mind This cloud of signs Designed I been surrounded by fruit flies Ever since that night when they floated past your eyes When you shrugged your shoulders so eloquently You shrugged your shoulders at me It's fine, you turned on so bright a dime Fruit flies buzzin round my mind This ancient sign Dissolved in lime This cloud of mine Designed I been ingested by fruit flies It doesn't seem like they will ever leave my mind But I been hoping they can get gone So I can pack my stuff up and move on

Spite Oh my dear Oh my dear, sweet spite Keep me warm Hold me close In my bed tonight Lay your deformed, ghastly form In the crook of my arm Keep me seething Keep me breathing Help me never to forgive Help me never forget Let me feel cold, cunning rage Instead of pain and regret Help me keep my enemies close And the rest of my enemies closer Keep me seething Keep me breathing

Foreign Land 05:42
Your kitchen was once a foreign land to me The arrangement of the table and the chairs were a mystery to me Your kitchen was once a foreign land to me What you kept in the cabinets, the crannies and the nooks, and the dustpan, yeah Your kitchen was once a foreign land to me When you walked barefoot in the middle of the night was it tile, was it hardwood or parquet? Your kitchen was once a foreign land to me Uncharted, unknown, and unmapped by the world’s best cartographers Your bedroom was once a foreign land to me I didn’t understand the local customs, I didn’t speak the language that fluently Your bedroom was once a foreign land to me The posters on the walls and the colors of your bedsheets, I could only guess from the things that you’d say Your bedroom was once a foreign land to me What kind of secrets did you keep in that one hidden drawer in your desk or your dresser, yeah Your bedroom was once a foreign land to me I was studying my phrasebook asking for directions when you came and you found me And you, despite the wildness of my heart, you let me in Your heart was once a foreign land to me I couldn't tell the left atrium from the right atrium And they way it pumped oxygen, yeah Your heart was once a foreign land to me And everytime It beat i could swear I could feel something forming On the tip of my tongue And you, despite the wildness of my heart, you let me in

I don't want to rule the world Just want you in my surprise attack I don't want to rule the world, just want you I don't want to retreat from the world, you know I don't want ya back, just want to see you I don't want surprise attack, just want you I don't want to rule the world, just want fair play That's all I want in the world, just want you I don't want to rule the world, don't want surprise attack Or a knife in my back, just love you I don't want to rule the world, just want you I don't want your knife in my back, just want you I don't want to rule the world, just want you

about

This album was written and recorded between October 2015 and September 2016. It has been a lesson in perseverance and passion, I spent many hours working and reworking it, and it remains, of course, as imperfect as I am. Thank you for listening and sharing.
